Cabbage And Cheesy Dumplings
- 1 head cabbage
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- creole seasoning
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons crisco shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 15 ounces cheez whiz jar of
- pepper to taste
- Quarter and core the head of cabbage. Boil until done in a pot of water seasoned with bouillon cube and creole seasoning.
- While cabbage is boiling prepare the dumplings. In a medium bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt and shortening. Use a fork to combine well.
- Add the egg and milk into the flour mixture and stir until just combined. You should have a sticky dough. Drop dough into large spoonfuls into the pot with the cabbage (I got about 12 dumplings). Season with pepper and cook for about 10 minutes or until dumplings are done.
- Turn down to a simmer. Add jar of Cheez-Whiz and stir. Continue to simmer until Chees-Whiz is melted.
