Frose Recipe

  1. Start by pouring the bottle of rose wine into a 13 x 9 cake pan and place it in the freezer for at least 6 hours. Due to the alcohol content, the rose wine will not freeze solid but it will have a wonderful slush like consistency.
  2. While the rose wine freezes, start making the simple syrup by bringing equal parts sugar and water in a medium saucepan to a boil. Stir for about three minutes until the sugar has dissolved and the consistency has thickened. Turn the stovetop off and remove the saucepan from the heat. Zest a whole lime and squeeze half the juice into the simple syrup concoction and stir. Allow the simple syrup to cool and the lime zest and juice to infuse into it. For a plain simple syrup mixture, skip the zesting and juicing of the lime.
  3. Toss the partially thawed halved strawberries into a food processor. Add two ounces of the cooled simple syrup and one ounce of the lime juice. Put the cover on and process the strawberries until the mixture is pureed.
  4. Scrape the frose into a blender and add the vodka, strawberry puree, and the remaining lime juice and puree until smooth. Add in the remaining rose wine as needed, pureeing until the concoction is smooth. Transfer the blender jar into the freezer until the frose has thickened, about 25-35 minutes.
  5. Remove the frose from the freezer and blend again until it has a slushy consistency. Divide the frose into four 16 ounce white wine glasses, garnish with a strawberry and enjoy. Cheers!
