Wreath Roll
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 6 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 cans filling (any kind you desire)
- cherries
- 3/4 c. milk, scalded
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 3 or 4 c. flour, sifted
- powdered sugar
- pecans
- Dissolve yeast in warm water.
- Scald milk and pour over shortening,
- sugar
- and salt.
- When mixture cools to lukewarm, add the
- dissolved
- yeast
- and
- add
- the flour and beat until smooth, add
- the
- remaining flour until soft dough is formed. Knead about
- 5
- minutes, place dough in greased bowl until it rises to double its size.
- Take dough out and roll until about a
- fourth of inch thick.
- After you have rolled it out spread both cans
- of the
- filling over it.
- Roll up and shape into a wreath.
- Slit
- top of
- roll.
- Let
- rise
- 30 minutes.
- Bake on greased
- pan at 325u0b0 for 35 minutes or until done.
- Glaze with powdered
- sugar
- icing while still warm.
- Decorate with pecans and cherries as desired.
