Turtle Cookies With Chocolate Frosting

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, water, and vanilla extract.
  3. Stir in the flour, and mix well.
  4. On an ungreased baking sheet, place 1" balls of the cookie dough.
  5. Press a pecan or walnut half into the top of each dough ball.
  6. Bake for 12-14 minutes. The cookies will not spread or "brown", but the bottoms of the cookies will become a light golden brown.
  7. Cool the cookies on a rack while preparing the frosting.
  8. For the Frosting:
  9. Heat the butter and water in a small saucepan over low heat until the butter is melted.
  10. Add the cocoa, and whisk until blended. Remove from heat.
  11. Stir in the powdered sugar and vanilla.
  12. Top each of the cooled cookies with a spoonful of frosting.
