Sumac Tamari Tofu
- 2 tablespoons sumac
- 2 tablespoons tamari can use lemon zest as replacement
- 3 tablespoons ginger paste minced
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper fine
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 8 inches firm tofu rectangle planks of, pressed and patted dry
- salt /pepper to taste
- Press and dry your tofu. Slice into planks.
- Mix together your tofu marinade. Soak your tofu in the marinade for at least 30 minutes (I prefer keeping it marinated for a few hours, really soaks in the flavor)
- Turn your stove to high heat and add a few tablespoons of safflower oil to pan. Add your tofu. Allow to cook for a few minutes - then flip. You may want to add some of the leftover marinade to keep the saute pan moist.
- You want to let the tofu firm up a bit and finish cooking
- When the tofu is cooked to your desired preferences, remove and set aside. I sprinkle over a few pinches of sumac right on top of the tofu.
