Baked Macaroni And Cheese
- 7 to 8 oz. elbow or broken macaroni
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 c. fresh bread crumbs
- 1 Tbsp. grated onion
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
- 2 c. milk
- 1/2 lb. sharp American cheese, grated
- paprika
- Cook macaroni as directed on package; drain.
- Preheat oven to 300u0b0.
- Melt 2 tablespoons butter, add crumbs and brown, stirring. Remove.
- Add remaining butter and onion.
- Blend in flour, salt, pepper and mustard.
- Add milk gradually, stirring until smooth. Stir in 3/4 of the cheese.
- Fold in drained macaroni and mix lightly with a fork.
- Top with remaining cheese and crumbs. Sprinkle with paprika.
- Bake, covered, until bubbly and hot.
