Old Fashioned Pecan Cake
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 2 1/8 cups cake flour
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 box powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tablespoon caramel syrup
- 5 tablespoons water or more of
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- Cream well shortening, white and brown sugar. Beat in 2 eggs. Sift cake flour, baking powder and salt. Add alternately with milk. Add vanilla. Fold in chopped pecans. Pour batter into 2 (8 inch) pans. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Top with frosting.
- Beat all ingredients with mixer. Put chopped pecans between layers of cake and on top.
