Chili Con Carne
- 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1 small minced onion
- 2 minced garlic cloves
- 1 lb. chopped lean beef
- 3 c. water
- 1 1/3 c. canned tomatoes
- 1/2 minced bell pepper (optional)
- 1 tsp. crushed comino
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder (Gebhart's)
- 1/8 tsp. basil
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- Heat oil in Dutch oven and add onion and garlic.
- Saute until transparent.
- Add
- meat
- and stir to break up meat.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- This recipe can cook for 3 hours with watertut iftou'retn a hurry, use only 1 cup water and 2 small
- cans
- of tomato sauce.
- Chili will be ready as soon as meat
- thoroughly cooks. Time of preparation:
- 20 minutes to 3 hours.
- Serves 4.
