Beef And Mushrooms(Serves 4 To 6)
- 2 lb. sirloin steak
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 2 Tbsp. instant minced onion or 1/2 c. chopped onion
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/4 c. soy sauce
- 2/3 c. (4 oz. can) undrained mushroom pieces
- 2 beef bouillon cubes or 2 tsp. instant bouillon
- 2 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- dash of pepper
- 1/4 c. (4 Tbsp.) cornstarch
- 5 oz. can sliced and drained water chestnuts (optional)
- 1/2 (7 oz.) pkg. frozen snow peas (optional)
- Cut sirloin into thin strips about 4-inches long.
- In a large frypan, brown meat in oil.
- Add onion and garlic powder; cook until onions are tender.
- Add soy sauce, mushrooms, beef bouillon cubes, water chestnuts and/or pea pods and 2 cups of the water. Cover; simmer until meat is tender, 30 to 40 minutes.
- Combine cornstarch with remaining 1/2 cup of water and add to meat, stirring constantly until thickened.
- Serve over hot fluffy rice or noodles.
- Makes 4 to 6 servings.
