Maryland Style Mac N' Cheese
- 1 box shells large
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 4 1/2 tablespoons flour
- 1 1/2 cups 2% milk
- 3/4 cup light cream
- 1 cup light sour cream
- 16 ounces mac and cheese shredded, blend
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 cup Italian bread crumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
- 1/4 cup green onions chopped
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Boil a pot of water and cook pasta shells to Al Dante firmness.
- Melt butter on medium heat in a medium-large saucepan. Then add flour slowly. Stir in milk and cream. Whisk until thick. Stir in sour cream until consistent. Slowly add 3 cups (12oz) of cheese blend while whisking. Mix until fairly consistent. Stir in salt, garlic and onion powder, 2/3 of the green onions, and 1/4 tsp Old Bay. Remove from heat.
- Pour shells into a casserole dish. Then, mix in sauce.
- In a bowl, mix remaining cheese, Old Bay, green onions, and bread crumbs together. Then, sprinkle mixture evenly over shells and sauce mix.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
