The Sweet Poppy Seeds And Cocoa
- 1 1/16 cups poppy seeds
- 1 3/8 cups brown sugar
- 5/8 cup butter plus 10 grams for the mold
- 1 cup flour
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla flavoring
- 6 3/4 tablespoons semi-skimmed milk
- 1/2 Orange grated rind of an
- icing sugar for garnish
- Preheat the oven to 170u0b0C.
- Melt the butter and let cool.
- Butter a 20 cm springform pan and sprinkle around the walls with a heaping tablespoon of poppy seeds and set aside.
- Whip sugar and eggs and vanilla until the mixture becomes swollen.
- Add milk and melted butter while continuing to beat.
- In another bowl combine the flour, baking powder, cocoa and poppy seeds.
- Pour the liquid mixture over dry ingredients and stir.
- Pour into the prepared springform pan.
- Bake for 40 minutes, that the toothpick test.
- Let cool on a rack in the mold and baked gently raised.
- Serve warm or cold sprinkled with icing sugar.
