Spicy Malvani Chicken Curry
- 900 grams chicken medium pieces
- 3 cups water
- 3 tablespoons oil Refined
- 1 desiccated coconut grated
- 1/4 cup coriander leaves chopped
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 nutmeg
- 7 cloves
- 10 black peppercorns
- 1 inch cinnamon stick
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon chilli powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 3 green chillies
- 6 garlic cloves
- 3/4 inch ginger
- 3 onions chopped
- 7 red chillies
- Dry roast bay leaf, nutmeg, cloves, dry red chillies, black peppercorns, cinnamon stick, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chilli powder and turmeric. Coarsely grind them.
- Grind green chilles, garlic cloves, 1 grated coconut and ginger into a paste.
- Heat oil in a wok, add onions and ground masala from Step 2.
- Stir and cook for 10 minutes.
- Add 3-4 Tsp of ground masala from Step 1, red chilli powder and salt to taste.
- Mix in the chicken and then water.
- Cover and let it cook on low flame for about 40 mins till gravy thickens and the chicken is tender.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and grated coconut.
- Serve hot.
