Best In The West Bean Bake
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 lb. bacon, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1/2 c. ketchup
- 1/2 c. bottled barbecue sauce
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. spicy brown mustard
- 1/4 c. molasses
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. ground pepper
- 2 (16 oz.) cans pork and beans
- 2 (16 oz.) cans butter beans, rinsed and drained
- 2 (16 oz.) cans red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- In an ovenproof kettle, cook the beef, bacon and onion over moderate heat, stirring occasionally to break up any lumps, for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the beef is no longer pink and the bacon is slightly crisp.
- Transfer the mixture to a sieve and let it drain.
- Return the mixture to the kettle.
- Add the rest of the ingredients and stir until all is combined well. Bake the mixture, covered, in the middle of the oven for 1 hour. Serves about 20 as a side dish.
