Hawaiian Pineapple Cake

  1. Sift together into bowl flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Add shortening, 2/3 cup milk and flavoring.
  2. Beat 2 minutes.
  3. Add another 1/3 cup milk and the egg whites.
  4. Beat 2 more minutes. Pour into prepared pans.
  5. Bake until cake tests done.
  6. Cool.
  7. Put cooled layers together with pineapple filling, spreading about 1/2 cup over center of top layer.
  8. Frost sides and a 1 1/2-inch border on top with a fluffy white icing.
  9. Time:
  10. Layers 30 to 35 minutes, oblong 35 to 40 minutes, both at 350u0b0.
