Homemade Sugar Cookies
- 2 3/8 cups flour
- 11/16 cup almonds
- 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 7/16 cups pork lard
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Add the flour to a skillet. On a low heat, toast slowly until the flour becomes brown, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and allow the flour to cool.
- Sift the flour into a bowl.
- Grind the almonds in a food processor into powder. Add to another bowl and mix with the sugar.
- Add the flour to the sugar and add the lard and cinnamon. Use an electric mixer and blend until a thick dough forms. Refrigerate for 1 hour so the dough hardens.
- Preheat the oven to 150 degrees Celsius.
- Roll out the dough to 1 1/2- to 2-centimeter thickness. Use a cookie cutter and cut out the cookies. Place the cookies on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 20 minutes. Remove the cookies and allow to cool on a baking rack.
