Chocolate-Banana Cake

  1. Place chocolate in top of a double boiler; bring water to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat to low; cook until chocolate melts.
  3. Set aside to cool.
  4. Cream butter.
  5. Gradually add sugar, beating well with an electric mixer.
  6. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  7. Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with banana, buttermilk and melted chocolate, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
  8. Mix well after each addition.
  9. Stir in vanilla and pecans.
