Spiderweb Cake
- 1 box chocolate cake mix 18.5 oz according to package directions
- 1 cup mini marshmallows
- 1 white frosting 16 oz
- 4 red food color dshs
- 4 yellow food color dshs
- 2 jelly beans black
- 1 black decorating gel tube
- 1 black licorice string
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat two 8-inch cake pans with nonstick cooking spray. Pour the cake batter into the pans and bake for 28 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While still warm, invert one cake onto a serving platter. Top with the mini marshmallows and place the second cake layer right-side up over the marshmallows. Let sit for 5 minutes for the marshmallows to melt, then chill until firm.
- In a small bowl, mix together 1 1/4 cups white frosting with the red and yellow food colors until the frosting is orange. Frost the top and sides of the cake.
- Place the remaining white frosting into a resealable plastic storage bag. Cut a very small tip off the corner of the bag and pipe a spiderweb design over the top of the cake.
- Place a black jelly bean on the spiderweb on the cake and draw legs with the black gel or form them with licorice to look like a spider. Repeat with the remaining jelly bean and gel to form a second spider.
