Pork Pie(New Year'S Kreatopita)

  1. Place 1/4 pound butter, ground pork and onions in pan and brown.
  2. Add water; continue to simmer for 45 minutes.
  3. Set meat mixture aside to cool.
  4. Beat the eggs slightly; add tapioca.
  5. Mix well and fold into meat mixture.
  6. Place 5 pastry sheets, buttering each, on bottom of 9 x 13-inch pan.
  7. Cover with 1/2 of meat mixture; top with 5 more buttered pastry sheets.
  8. Spread remaining meat mixture.
  9. Sterilize "good luck coin" (a quarter or fifty-cent piece) and place among pastry sheets.
  10. Place 5 buttered pastry sheets over last layer of meat mixture; pour remaining butter over entire "kreatopita."
