Salt And Pepper Squid
- 2 pounds squid fresh, cleaned, scored, cut into 2 inch pieces
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- oil to deep-fry + 1 tbsp
- 1/2 red chili fresh small, deseeded, finely chopped
- 1/2 red bell pepper finely diced
- 1 clove garlic finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon sea salt
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon chinese five spice powder
- cilantro leaves fresh, to serve
- Dust squid with cornstarch, shaking off excess. Set aside.
- Heat oil to 350u0b0F. Working in batches, deep-fry squid for 2-3 mins, until light golden brown. Drain on paper towels and keep warm.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large wok over high heat. Add chili, bell pepper and garlic and stir-fry 20 seconds. Add cooked squid and toss for 1 min. Add salt, pepper and five-spice powder. Serve garnished with cilantro leaves.
