Delicious Homemade Lemonade
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup water for the simple syrup
- 3/4 cup lemon juice freshly squeezed
- 3 cups cold water
- ice cubes
- slices of lemon fresh
- 1 sprig lemon verbena optional
- First, make the simple syrup: In a small saucepan, add the sugar and the water; stir and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for about four to five minutes or until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from the heat and let it cool slightly.
- Depending on the size of the lemons, juice four to five of them to make 3/4 cup lemon juice. Add the juice to the simple syrup and mix well. Cool completely.
- Pour the lemonade syrup into a glass pitcher. Add two to three cups of ice-cold water and test to make sure it suits your individual taste. Transfer the pitcher to the refrigerator and chill for an hour. Serve with a few slices of lemon, ice cubes and sprigs of lemon verbena.
