Delicious Homemade Lemonade

  1. First, make the simple syrup: In a small saucepan, add the sugar and the water; stir and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for about four to five minutes or until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from the heat and let it cool slightly.
  2. Depending on the size of the lemons, juice four to five of them to make 3/4 cup lemon juice. Add the juice to the simple syrup and mix well. Cool completely.
  3. Pour the lemonade syrup into a glass pitcher. Add two to three cups of ice-cold water and test to make sure it suits your individual taste. Transfer the pitcher to the refrigerator and chill for an hour. Serve with a few slices of lemon, ice cubes and sprigs of lemon verbena.
