Bengali Spicy Chicken
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 onion large, sliced
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic paste
- 2 teaspoons ginger paste
- 3 cardamoms
- 2 bay leaves cut in half
- 3 pieces cinnamon stick 1 inch each
- 2 teaspoons turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons cumin powder
- 1 kilogram chicken 12-16 pieces
- 4 green chilis
- 1 potato cubes
- 3 cups water
- salt to taste
- Fry the onions in the oil medium heat until soft but not brown, add the chopped garlic. Then add the cardamoms, bay leaves and cinnamon stick,
- Once brown, add the garlic paste and ginger paste. Add the chilli powder and turmeric powder. Then add a little bit water so the spices don't burn.
- Keep stirring until water evaporates. Add the chicken and stir until it fries a little.
- Add 1 tsp of cumin powder. Add half cup water to mix the cumin with the chicken.
- Keep stirring for 5 more minutes then add the rest of the cumin powder.
- Add salt and stir well. Then simmer until oil separates, about 15 minutes.
- Add 2 cups water.
- Put on the lid and cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add a bit more salt to taste. Add the whole green chilis.
- Serve hot with rice or naan bread!
