Steak With Onion And Tomato Sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic sliced
- 2 tablespoons fresh ginger chopped
- 1/2 tablespoon black peppercorns
- 1 onion large
- 1 tomato peeled, deseeded and roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup white wine can use also red
- 25 milliliters balsamic vinegar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds ground
- 1/2 teaspoon dried red chili
- For the sauce- Heat the olive oil in a medium pot.
- Over medium heat, saute the onion, garlic, peppercorns and ginger for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
- Mix in the tomato and let simmer for 2 minutes.
- Add all the rest of the ingredients, first the fluids, then the spices and mix well.
- Bring to a boil and let simmer on low heat, stirring occasionally, for 25 minutes or until only thick fluid remains.
- For the steaks- rub 2 steaks with olive oil and chopped garlic
- Then, sear them in a very hot skillet on all sides.
- Let them cook for 10 minutes more on each side over medium heat.
- When the steaks are ready, place them on a plate and pour the sauce on top. Voila!
