Chocolate And Beet Pie
- 3/4 cup flour
- 7/8 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 cup almond flour
- salt
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 6 3/4 tablespoons water
- 5 1/4 tablespoons butter
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened chocolate
- 5 1/4 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 3 tablespoons water
- 5 eggs
- 1 3/8 cups brown sugar
- 2 beets roasted, pureed
- 6 3/8 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 7 1/8 tablespoons dried fruit walnuts and figs, cut into pieces
- In a bowl, combine the flours, salt and sugar. Mix well.
- Heat water and butter over medium heat until melted. Add to the flour mixture, and knead until well-mixed.
- Form a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about fifteen minutes.
- Melt the chocolate, butter, cocoa, and water on low heat.
- Meanwhile, beat the eggs and sugar until fluffy.
- Add the melted chocolate and mix well.
- Add the beet puree and stir.
- Mix 50 grams flour, baking powder, and dried fruit and nut pieces.
- Preheat oven to 360u0b0F.
- Remove the dough from the refrigerator.
- Roll out on a floured surface into a thin circle.
- Place the dough in a large pie pan with removable bottom, greased with butter.
- Cut off the excess dough from the edges and prick the bottom with a fork.
- Add the filling and smooth out.
- Bake until cooked. The center will be slightly damp.
- Remove from oven, let cool, and remove from pan. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
