Juicy Italian Meatballs
- 7/8 pound ground beef
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 slice white bread
- 1 egg
- salt
- ground black pepper
- flour
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 onion
- 1 carrot
- 1/2 green bell pepper
- 6 3/4 cups tomatoes
- 1 cup mushrooms
- sugar
- In a bowl, add the ground beef, cheese, cumin, oregano, bread, egg, and a pinch of salt and black pepper. Mix well.
- Form the meatballs using your palms and set aside.
- Coat the meatballs with a little flour and add them to oil in a skillet. Cook until browned on the outside. Remove from the heat and drain on paper towel.
- Add the oil to a skillet on high and add the onion, carrot, and bell pepper. Saute for 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms. Season with a pinch of salt and black pepper to taste. Cook for another 5 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes and mash with a wooden spoon. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add a pinch of sugar to taste. Add the meatballs and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve on pasta.
