Chili
- 25 oz. can crushed tomatoes
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 can dark red kidney beans
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 1 lb. sausage
- 3 3/4 Tbsp. chili powder
- 3 1/2 Tbsp. beef bouillon
- 1 3/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 3/4 tsp. cumin seed
- 1/2 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. season salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. Tabasco sauce
- 1/2 c. Burgundy wine
- Brown beef and sausage.
- Put through a grinder until fine. Brown onion separately and add together.
- Add the tomatoes and baking soda. Cook with water for about 40 minutes. Add spices for the last 15 minutes of the 40 minutes and adding the beans for the last 5 minutes of the 15 minutes. Skim off any grease that forms from the meats.
- Serve hot. Can be cooked ahead and reheated easily.
