Hot Dog Bean Soup
- 1 pound great northern beans
- 2 quarts water
- 1 1/2 cups diced celery
- 1 1/2 cups carrots diced
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup onions chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 pound beef franks Oscar Mayer all, sliced
- Soak beans as directed on package.
- Place beans, water, carrots, celery, onions, salt, pepper and garlic powder in large, deep pot.
- Stir well.
- Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered 2 hours or until beans are done.
- Remove 1/2 cup bean mixture and mash well.
- In small saucepan, melt butter, stir in flour and cook, stirring constantly until smooth and bubbly.
- Gradually add chicken broth, blend well.
