Date And Almond Torte
- 1 stick butter room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon mace
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 dash salt roughly 1/8 teaspoon
- 1 cup dates chopped
- 1/2 cup chopped almonds
- simple syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons fruit tea the dry, blend, combination of rosehips, lemongrass, hibiscus
- Heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Cream butter and sugar together thoroughly before adding egg.
- Sift together dry ingredients separately and incorporate by thirds into butter/sugar mixture
- Fold in dates and almonds; batter will be thick and firm.
- Turn into a greased 9 inch pie or cake pan and spread smooth.
- Bake for 25 - 30 minutes, until just brown.
