Korean Barbecued Beef(Bul Ko Gi)
- 2 lb. round or flank steak
- 4 Tbsp. soy sauce or less
- 2 Tbsp. sesame oil or salad oil
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. honey
- 1 or 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 or 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 Tbsp. sesame seed, toasted
- 1 tsp. monosodium glutamate
- 1 tsp. sherry
- dash of pepper
- 1 thin slice fresh ginger, minced or may substitute a pinch of ground (optional)
- Cut steak into narrow strips about 1/4 x 4-inch, cutting strips across the grain for tenderness.
- Combine rest of ingredients.
- Add meat pieces.
- Mix thoroughly.
- Marinate meat strips 15 to 30 minutes.
- Broil over hot charcoal.
- Turn meat only; thin strips should cook for 2 or 4 minutes.
- Cooking time depends on degree of doneness desired.
- Serves 5 to 6 persons.
