Homemade Sausage Rolls
- 1 pound ground sausage
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 carrot coarsely grated
- 1 zucchini coarsely grated
- 1/4 cup fresh breadcrumbs
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
- 6 sheets puff pastry ready-rolled
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- Preheat the oven to 400u0b0F. Line 3 baking trays with baking paper. In a large bowl, using clean, damp hands or a spoon, combine sausage meat, ground beef, carrot, zucchini, breadcrumbs, onion, 1 egg, tomato paste and barbecue sauce. Season to taste.
- On a large chopping board, cut each pastry sheet in half with a sharp knife. Spoon meat mixture into a large piping bag and pipe along one long edge of each half of pastry. Roll up tightly to seal. Cut into 6 pieces.
- Arrange rolls on trays, about 1 inch apart. Whisk remaining egg in a small bowl and brush over rolls. Sprinkle liberally with sesame seeds. Bake for 20-25 mins, until golden brown.
