American Ribs With Butter Basting Sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp sweet paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp dry mustard
- 1/4 tsp celery seed
- 1 rack of ribs
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apple juice
- Mix together the dry ingredients
- Pour lemon juice over the ribs
- Rub spices onto ribs
- Cook ribs bone-side down on indirect heat (about 250 degrees) for at least 3 hours
- Mix together the basting sauce (butter, 1/4 cup brown sugar, honey, and apple juice) and brush on to ribs 20 minutes before removing from heat
- Go over top of ribs with a chef's torch to caramelize sauce immediately before serving
