Molasses Crinkles
- 3/4 c. soft margarine
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 c. blackstrap molasses
- 2 1/4 c. flour
- 2 tsp. soda
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 3/4 tsp. ginger
- Grease cookie sheets. Preheat oven to 375u0b0.
- In a large mixer bowl, mix thoroughly butter, sugar and then the egg.
- Then add molasses.
- Sift dry ingredients and spices.
- Add to batter and blend thoroughly.
- Chill dough for an hour or two. Roll into balls the size of walnuts. Dip top in granulated sugar.
- Place sugar side up, 3-inches apart on cookie sheet.
- Sprinkle each ball with a couple drops of water to make the top crinkle while it bakes. Bake 10 to 12 minutes just until set, not hard.
- Yields 4 dozen (2 1/2-inch cookies).
