Sukiyaki
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced and rings separated
- 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
- 1 to 2 lb. steak, cut into thin strips
- 1 can mushroom bits and pieces, drained
- 1 can bean sprouts or Chinese vegetables, well drained
- 1 can bamboo shoots
- 1 pkg. frozen of 1 bunch fresh spinach, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/3 c. soy sauce
- 1/2 c. water
- Saute onion in hot oil.
- Add beef.
- Saute 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add celery, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, sugar, soy sauce and water.
- Stir to mix well.
- Cover; simmer about 10 minutes.
- Arrange spinach on top of meat and vegetables.
- Cover, simmer for 5 minutes or until spinach wilts and veggies are crisp tender.
- Serve with hot seasoned rice.
- Makes 4 servings.
