  1. In a pot, fry onions until light golden in canola oil over high heat. Mix in ginger and garlic and let cook for 1 minute. Add in meat and cook over medium-high until the color changes. Do not mash the meat; let it remain in clumps.
  2. Mix in the tomatoes and cover until the tomatoes become soft over medium heat. Then add in the spices: ground cumin, ground coriander, chili powder, turmeric powder, black pepper, salt, and garam masala. Cook the spices for 1 minute over high heat.
  3. Then mix in the peas and yogurt, Cook for 2-3 minutes over medium heat. Cover the pot and keep on low heat for 10 minutes.
  4. Garnish with cilantro, chilies or jalapenos, and a little more garam masala.
