- 1/3 cup canola oil
- 1 onion large, sliced
- 1 tablespoon ginger grated
- 1 tablespoon garlic grated
- 1 pound ground meat turkey*, beef, chicken
- 4 Roma tomatoes sliced
- 1 tablespoon roasted ground cumin
- 2 tablespoons corriander ground
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon Garam Masala powder
- 3/4 cup frozen peas
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup cilantro
- 2 chilies or jalapenos
- In a pot, fry onions until light golden in canola oil over high heat. Mix in ginger and garlic and let cook for 1 minute. Add in meat and cook over medium-high until the color changes. Do not mash the meat; let it remain in clumps.
- Mix in the tomatoes and cover until the tomatoes become soft over medium heat. Then add in the spices: ground cumin, ground coriander, chili powder, turmeric powder, black pepper, salt, and garam masala. Cook the spices for 1 minute over high heat.
- Then mix in the peas and yogurt, Cook for 2-3 minutes over medium heat. Cover the pot and keep on low heat for 10 minutes.
- Garnish with cilantro, chilies or jalapenos, and a little more garam masala.
