After Work Gumbo
- 12 oz. Polish sausage links, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 (14.5 to 16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen cut okra
- 1 tsp. dried thyme leaves, crushed
- 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
- 1 c. hot cooked rice
- crushed red pepper (not ground pepper)
- vinegar (smallest size bottle)
- salt
- Sauer's or Lawry's seasoned salt
- water
- In a glass bowl or glass saucepan:
- Use 1/2 of the bottle of vinegar (approximately 1 cup).
- Double this amount in water (for example:
- 1 cup of vinegar equals 2 cups of water).
- Add 2 tablespoons crushed red pepper (later can add more to season to taste).
- Add 3 tablespoons seasoned salt (later can add more to season to taste).
- Add 1 tablespoon salt.
- Stir well until ingredients dissolve.
- Red pepper will not.
- You will add more salt, seasoned salt and crushed red pepper until you get the taste you desire.
