Better Than Store Bought Granola
- 2 1/2 c. rolled quick cooking oatmeal
- 1 c. coconut
- 1/3 c. sunflower seeds (optional)
- 1/4 c. sesame seed (optional)
- 1/2 c. margarine or butter
- 1/4 c. dark brown sugar
- 1/4 c honey
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- Combine the oats, coconut and seeds and bake in 300u0b0 oven for 20 minutes.
- Simmer the margarine, sugar, honey and salt over low heat.
- Remove from heat and add 1 teaspoon vanilla.
- You may stir in 1/2 cup toasted wheat germ or oat bran.
- Pour the mixture over the toasted oat mixture.
- Mix well to coat evenly.
- Raise heat to 350u0b0.
- Return to oven 5 minutes more.
- Add 1/2 cup raisins.
- Stir and press down.
- Bake 5 more minutes or until golden.
- Remove from oven and cool.
- Break into large pieces and store in airtight container.
