Yakitori Donburi For #Weekdaysupper
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1/4 cup mirin Japanese Sweet Sake Seasoning
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons rice wine Sake, Japanese
- 1/2 teaspoon togarashi more or less to taste Ichimi, Japanese chili pepper blend, substitute Chili Pepper Flakes optional
- 4 green onions thinly sliced
- 4 cups cooked rice for serving
- condiments NOTE: The seasonings that you see in the ingredient list are Japanese but most large, chain grocery stores will have these essential Japanese seasonings and, on their shelves
- First, brown the ground beef, over medium-high heat in a skillet. Drain the extra fat and liquid just as you notice the last bit of pink cooks out.nnDish out the cooked rice into bowls then top generously with the yakitori ground beef mixture and enjoy while piping hot! Feel free to add more ichimi togarashi as necessary to individual servings.
- Using a spatula, spread out the beef across the surface of the pan to create a thin layer of the ground beef then add all of the mirin, soy sauce, brown sugar, sake and ichimi togarashi over the entire surface of the ground beef. Put the skillet over high heat and quickly saute the beef and seasonings together until the beef is thoroughly coated and the sauce thickens a bit, approximately 5 minutes.
- Take the skillet off the heat and add the green onions, stirring to combine.
- Dish out the cooked rice into bowls then top generously with the yakitori ground beef mixture and enjoy while piping hot! Feel free to add more ichimi togarashi as necessary to individual servings.
