Big Fat Cookies

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Grease cookie sheet with shortening.
  3. Prepare the cake mix as directed on the package except reduce the water to 1/2 cup.
  4. Drop the dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 3 inches apart onto the greased cookie sheet.
  5. Sprinkle with 1 cup chocolate chips.
  6. Bake in 375 degree oven 6 to 8 minutes or until almost no impression remains when a cookie is touched lightly.
  7. Cool on cookie sheet 1 minute, then lift the cookies to rack with pancake turner.
  8. Variation: Gumdrop Cookies - follow recipe for Big Fat cookies except, in place of the chocolate chips, use 1 cup small gumdrops.
  9. Cut the gumdrops in half so they won't sink to the bottom and stick.
  10. Makes about 30 cookies
