Ina Mae'S Gingerbread
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sorghum Lum and Abner, I also use unsulfured molasses if I can find the sorghum
- 3 cups flour I use whole wheat, but can use white
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Preheat oven to 350
- Cream together the sugar and butter
- Add eggs one at a time to the creamed mixture, creaming well after each addition.
- Add sorghum to creamed mixture
- 1.tift together (I don't have a sifter. You can lift the flour with a spoon several times to loosen it so that is isn't packed down, and spoon lightly into the cup, then level) then mix all of the dry ingredients.
- 2.tdd to creamed mixture and mix until flour disappears.
- Add 1 Cup hot water into mixture
- tour mixture into pan that has a bottom lined with ungreased wax paper, or parchment paper, or I grease with butter then coat with flour.
- tprinkle top with 6 T sugar and 2 teaspoons ground cloves
- take at 350 for 25 minutes
