Savory Easter Cake
- 7/8 cup milk
- 5 3/8 tablespoons water
- 1 1/2 cubes fresh yeast
- 2 3/8 tablespoons sugar
- 3 2/3 cups bread flour
- 2/3 cup potato flakes
- 1 egg beaten
- 2 1/3 tablespoons vegetable shortening
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 2/3 tablespoon salt
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- ground black pepper
- 5 1/4 ounces salami chopped
- 1 1/4 cups pecorino cheese diced
- In a bowl, add 80 grams of milk, water, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Mix well.
- Add the flour, potato flakes, egg, shortening, oil, salt, rosemary, and a pinch of black pepper, Mix well.
- Add the salami and cheese and mix well. Leave to rise for two hours in a covered bowl.
- Place the dough into 2 dove-shaped pans or molds. Allow the doughs to rise until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius.
- Sprinkle the tops of the doughs with milk. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until golden brown.
