Excellent Beef Casserole

  1. In a large resealable bag combine flour, salt & pepper;
  2. add beef cubes and shake to coat.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the beef in oil.
  4. Place beef and dripping in a greased shallow 2 1/2 qt. baking dish.
  5. To skillet add water, broth, garlic, onion, thyme and rosemary; bring to a boil. Simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in mushrooms.
  7. Pour over meat;
  8. mix well.
  9. Cover and bake at 350u0b0 for 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours or until beef is tender.
  10. Sprinkle corn or peas over meat.
  11. Spread potatoes evenly over top.
  12. Brush with butter;
  13. sprinkle with paprika.
  14. Bake 15-20 minutes longer.
  15. Yield: 6-8 servings.
  16. Great with homemade dinner rolls and a salad.
