보쌈 (Bossam) - Steamed Pork Belly
- 1 onion sliced
- 15 garlic cloves
- 5 pounds pork belly or roughly two slabs of, ., Enough Pork Belly to fit into a pan, flat.
- 1 green apple optional, sliced
- On a wide bottom pan, lay a bed of the onions and garlic
- Place the Pork Belly, skin side up over the bed of onions
- (Optional) If you want a little more flavor, cover the pork belly on its side and top with thin slices of Green Apple
- Close the lid and cook it in medium heat for roughly 15-20 min or till it's done cooking. You can check if it has been cooked through by poking it with a knife or chopstick. If the liquid that comes up is red, then it needs to cook longer. Do not overcook, or it will become dry
- Once the Bossam is cooked, let it cool enough to handle with hands and slice into roughly 1/4"-3/8" thick slices. Serve with Pickled Cabbage and Radish Kimchi.
- (Optional Additional Step). If you are using the Bossam to make more of a Slider (using Hawaiian rolls) or tacos, place the Bossam into a baking tray or aluminum tray and sprinkle the pork skin with brown sugar and bake it in the oven at 450 degree F to crisp up the skin slightly.
