Marble Ring Cake
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups flour sieved
- 3 3/8 tablespoons liqueur strega, or sambuca
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 5/8 cup vegetable oil
- vanilla extract
- salt
- 1 ounce plain chocolate chopped fine.
- 3 3/8 tablespoons milk
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
- In a bowl, mix together the eggs and sugar until light and creamy.
- Add, a little at a time, the flour, liqueur, baking powder, oil, a few drops of vanilla, and a pinch of salt..
- Grease and flour a ringed 24-centimeter cake pan. Pour in half of the batter.
- Add the chocolate and milk to the remaining half and pour over the other cake mixture.
- Using the handle of a wooden spoon, stir the mixture to create a marble effect.
- Cook on the bottom of the oven for 40 minutes. Test with a wooden skewer.
