Italian Style Panini
- 2 tomatoes vine ripe, whole
- 1 onion large, quartered
- 2 jalapenos with seeds - whole
- 4 cloves garlic
- 4 bell peppers - any color - halved
- 1/4 cup fresh basil
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- bread European style
- ham slices Deli
- salami slices
- 2 tomatoes - Vine-ripe, sliced
- cheese
- gruyere
- cheese
- gruyere
- chutney Roasted pepper
- butter for the bread
- Preheat Oven 350 degrees:
- Place the tomatoes, bell peppers, onions and jalapenos on a baking sheet.
- Bake 20 -25 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool.
- Remove the stem from the jalapenos and quarter the tomatoes.
- Place the jalapenos, tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, basil, seasonings, balsamic vinegar and honey in a food processor and give a few good chops; until the desired consistency is reached.
- For the Italian Style Panini:
- Place salami slices on each slice of bread followed by the chutney, then the tomato, then the cheese, the ham, cheese and finally; put the sandwich together.
- Butter each side of the bread.
- Place in the panini maker and grill to desired crispness and color.
