Sunday Pie
- 1 9/16 pounds potatoes
- 2/3 pound sweet potatoes
- 1 1/8 pounds ground beef
- 1 onion
- 4 garlic cloves
- 2 carrots small
- 1 leek
- 4 parsley sprigs
- 3 1/8 cups fresh mushrooms
- olive oil to taste for the mash
- 1 1/8 pounds ground beef
- salt to taste
- nutmeg to taste
- 1 1/3 cups milk
- 3 5/8 tablespoons margarine
- 1/3 sausage meat, sliced
- cheese Emmental, or mozzarella cheese to taste
- Preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius.
- Boil the potatoes and sweet potatoes.
- Chop the onion, garlic cloves, carrots, leek, and parsley in a food processor. Chop the mushrooms.
- Heat a pan with a little olive oil. Add vegetables, and cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes.
- Add the ground beef, and mix well.
- Simmer over low heat, adjusting the seasoning with a little salt and nutmeg to taste.
- While the meat is cooking prepare the mashed potatoes.
- Drain the potatoes and sweet potatoes. Place in the food processor with the milk and salt, grind to a puree.
- Add the margarine, and mix the puree to desired consistency.
- Assemble the pie on a tray by placing a layer of puree, a layer of meat. and a final layer of puree.
- Place the sausage slices on top, and sprinkle with cheese to taste.
- Bake to until cheese is melted and golden.
- Serve with a simple salad.
