Turkish Spiced Lamb Pide
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion chopped
- 12 1/2 ounces ground lamb
- 1 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tomato chopped
- 1/3 cup sliced almonds
- 1/3 cup currants
- 1 lemon zested
- 2 sheets puff pastry halved
- 1 egg lightly beaten
- baby spinach to serve
- greek yogurt to serve
- lemon wedges to serve
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0F.
- Heat oil in a large frying pan over high heat. Saute onion for 3-4 mins, until tender. Add ground lamb. Brown for 4-5 mins. Add spices and cook for 1 min, until fragrant. Add tomato, almonds, currants and lemon zest. Remove from heat. Season.
- Distribute lamb mixture lengthwise down center of puff pastry rectangles. Pinch short ends together to seal, leaving filling uncovered. Brush with egg. Bake for 15-20 mins, until puffed and golden. Serve with spinach, Greek yogurt and lemon wedges.
