King Cake For Christmas

  1. Dice candied fruit, dust with flour and stir so that cut pieces do not stick to each other.
  2. Chop dried fruit and set aside.
  3. Dissolve yeast in warm milk.
  4. Melt butter and pour into bread machine bowl.
  5. Add milk with yeast, port wine and whisked eggs.
  6. Add flour and sugar. Select desired bread program from menu.
  7. When program ends, stir dough to push out air bubbles and let it rise again.
  8. Preheat oven to 180u0b0C (approximately 350u0b0F).
  9. Place dough on a floured surface and mix with fruits.
  10. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  11. Make a hole in the middle of the dough with a ramekin or other oven-safe container.
  12. Brush the surface of the cake with a little fruit jelly so fruit sticks to the surface of the cake and does not fall off.
  13. Beat egg yolk with a tablespoon of water. Brush the surface of the cake with the egg yolk.
  14. Bake in preheated oven for 30-40 minutes.
