Iced Cinnamon Buns
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon soda
- 1 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup raisins plumped
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup powder sugar
- 1 tablespoon melted butter or margarine
- 1 teaspoon evaporated milk 1 to 3, or plain milk
- In mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and soda. Blend all dry ingredients together.
- Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in raisins.
- Add buttermilk stirring just until moistened.
- Turn onto lightly floured surface. Knead only 5 or 6 times.
- Roll to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with 2" biscuit cutter. Place with sides barely touching on a sprayed baking sheet or 8" pie pans.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 13 to 18 minutes or until golden brown. Let buns cool somewhat, then frost with icing sugar mixture.
