Carole'S Peanut Butter Cake

  1. Bake cake according to package directions in a 9 x 13 inch pan.
  2. Leave it in the pan and punch holes all over it with the handle of a wooden spoon.
  3. Mix the brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt and milk in a heavy boiler and bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce the heat just enough to keep it from boiling over.
  5. Stir occasionally. Cook almost to a soft ball stage and add the peanut butter. Continue cooking and rapidly stirring to break the peanut butter up.
  6. Cook to a soft ball stage.
  7. Add vanilla and stir.
  8. Pour over the cake and let set for a few minutes.
  9. Serve warm.
