Stained Glass Window Sugar Cookies
- 75 grams butter softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- caramels cut into small pieces
- Preheat the oven to 180 Celsius.
- Cream the butter and sugar together. Add the egg and vanilla and mix well.
- Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to the butter mixture and mix slightly to combine.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough and cut into desired shapes. Cut smaller shapes out of the middles also. If hanging the cookies, use a needle to poke a hole in the top edge of each cookie.
- Place onto a cookie sheet and place a few pieces of cut caramels into the smaller shapes.
- Bake for approximately 10 minutes until lightly browned on both sides. If hanging, let cool first.
