Bagels

  1. Mix 1 1/2 cups flour, 3 tablespoons sugar, 1 tablespoon salt and yeast.
  2. Heat 1 1/2 cups water and the margarine to 120u0b0 or 130u0b0.
  3. Add to dry ingredients.
  4. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Add 1 1/2 cups flour.
  5. Beat at high speed 2 minutes.
  6. Stir in more flour to make stiff dough.
  7. On floured board, knead 8 to 10 minutes.
  8. Set in greased bowl.
  9. Turn to grease top; cover.
  10. Let rise in warm, draft-free place 1 hour.
  11. Punch dough down.
  12. Cover. Let rest 15 minutes.
